A word from the Chair on funding
All-Party Parliamentary Groups receives no taxpayer funding.
However, for the Group to be run effective, funding is required. Like most APPGs, this group is funded through annual subscription fees from Associate Members, sponsorship arrangements, or a combination of the two. Associate Members have no say over the running of the group, and sponsorship confers no special access or privileges. The officers of the Group, and I as its Chair, ensure the Group is independent and informed by the best available evidence
In order to ensure a wide range of voices are reflected in this debate, there is no membership charge for trade associations, local authorities, non-profits, environmental and consumer groups or academics. Membership fees are declared in the Register of All-Party Groups, which is compiled and published by the Office of the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards.
The role of the Secretariat
The Secretariat of the APPG is provided by Newington Communications, an independent public affairs agency. Newington is a strong supporter and member of the Association of Professional Political Consultants, Public Relations Consultants Association, and the Chartered Institute of Public Relations through which the agency meets all the disclosure requirements of the UK Public Affairs Council. Newington is also a signatory of the Register of Consultant Lobbyists and the EU Transparency Register.
The Secretariat supports the Chair and Officers of the APPG in carrying out its activities. Its functions include managing meetings and events, and assisting with day-to-day administrative matters.
